Phyllis Chapter

L.R. Palmer Berry Auxiliary

This body shall be known and distinguished by the name of the L.R. Palmer Berry Auxiliary holding a Charter from The Phyllis Chapter, of the Phylaxis Society and located at 190 Irvine Turner Blvd, Newark, New Jersey. The Auxiliary meets four times a year during the months of January, April, July and October.

The charter for the L. R. Palmer Berry Auxiliary of the Phyllis Chapter was signed on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 by Flora Simon, President of the Phyllis Chapter. It was presented Friday, March 9, 2018 in Herndon, Virginia at the 35th Annual Session of the Phyllis Chapter of the Phylaxis Society. The Phyllis Chapter is an International Society of Members of the Order of the Eastern Star, with Prince Hall Affiliation, in pursuit of the study therein.

Sister Audrey M. Hopkins, Grand Worthy Matron of Oziel Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Jurisdiction of New Jersey, charged the task of assembling and creating an auxiliary in New Jersey to Sister Marjorie P. Ellis, Grand Associate Conductress. Sister Ellis recruited 39 sisters of Oziel Grand Chapter for charter membership.

The Auxiliary was named after the first Grand Worthy Matron of Oziel Grand Chapter, Sister Lizzie Roy Palmer Berry. The initial officers of the auxiliary were Marjorie P. Ellis, President; Wilhelmina Howard, Vice President; Joanne Motley Cain, Treasurer and Delores Hackett, Secretary.

Fee: Initial Fee of $100.00; then $40.00 a year membership fee. 

Confirmation: Submit to the Local Phyllis Auxiliary.

Participation: Stay connected through chapter meetings, grow through enriching workshops, take part in meaningful auxiliary programming, and gather with Sisters from across the nation at the annual conference.
